About Ava

Ava

I will never meet another horse like this.

Her name is Ava. She is a 2006 registered Paint Horse mare. I adopted her in 2008 after she was rescued from slaughter. You can read the entire story here: Part 1, Part 2. Ever since she became mine I have been doing all of her training, all of her vaccinations, and of course anything my pretty girl needs. Ava is a sassy, sweet, smart, and sometimes a testy little horse but I love her.

We haven't shown in years but as of now I don't really miss it. Although, when we did show we did very well (at least for our level,) for the two years we did 4H we won Grand Champion in Showmanship both times. We also qualified for 4H district (only went the first year but qualified for both) and came third only because I messed up part of the pattern, still pretty good! After those two years of showing we stopped, I got too old for 4H and ended up leaving my club. Not only that but I left that barn as well and since I didn't have a trailer it didn't work very well. I sometimes do miss 4H but where we are now is much much better.

After we moved from our second barn (where I did 4H) we moved to a private place for the summer. The private place was fine, it had a nice pasture and a little barn, the only downfall was that there was no place to work her, that really didn't work out. So, then we moved to RS. It wasn't bad there only super windy all the time, and we could tell that the horses were not happy in such a small pen, and some of the boarders were not nice either... So eventually we made it to The Ranch, and although we've had a couple rough patches I like this place the most out of all the places. For the first time I feel accepted and it was very obvious on the first day that Ava was very happy too. I mean what horse wouldn't be happy in a huge pasture with her best bud?! I can't think of one!

After only a few months there Ava was rideable and well on her way to being a broke horse. I'm so proud of her and amazed at how talented she is especially for not having any on this training before.

Back in May of 2013 we had to leave The Ranch due to it's closure. Which still has me torn up. We have now moved to place which I call Sunset Ranch. Sunset Ranch has endless amounts of space and the girls seem extra happy here, more so than at The Ranch. So, there won't be any complaining about that!
