1. Do you prefer Mares or Geldings? 

Well, I have a mare now but if I were to purchase another horse I would get a gelding. Geldings are so much less temperamental.

2. English or Western?

I like both!

3. Do you prefer "younger" or "older" horses?

Younger horses are more unpredictable and less experienced so I would say older horses.

4. Have you ever trained a horse from ground zero?

Yeppers, my girl, Ava

5. Do you prefer riding or ground work?

Both are a lot of fun.

6. Do you board your horse or keep it at home?

Sadly, I board at a facility. One day I will keep them at home. 

7. Do you do all natural things or commercial stuff? (In the sense of products.)

It depends, I like to keep it natural but sometimes it doesn't cut it. I have to spend my money wisely!!

8. All Tacked up or Bareback?

Bareback by a thousand miles!

9. Equestrian model?

Hmm, I would have to say besides the trainer that ran The Ranch I would say Mark Rashid.

10. What's your, one, main goal while being in the horse world?

My main goal is to ride in an AQHA/APHA world show, I don't care what class just something at world level, may it be with Ava or not.

She's a Trail Horse?

We've had our fun throughout the summer. The weather has turned and slowly the hints of winter are coming. Gross! Say goodbye to scalding hot days, shorts, horseback riding, and everything that is fun. Now say hello to boredom, the cold, and more boredom... Although we live in a major ski area it is way to expensive for me to keep it up.

I have tried to enjoy our non snow days as much as possible but still my schedule keeps me from riding much, if at all! Ava needs a lot more work but she still acts better than I could have hoped. So as long as I can keep that constant then we're good! I have also been looking into buying a horse trailer, yes, or as I like to call them "freedom!" Due to future events (still a secret!) I will need one fairly soon. So excited! When we finally acquire a trailer I will be going to shows left and right which is even more exciting. In the meantime I've decided only to focus on our showmanship and trail riding. Showmanship has looked really good and as for trail riding she does fine. My next project is to find as many scary things as possible, maybe even make an obstacle course!

Thank You Horse

I wanted to write this letter to the amazing horses around the world.

Dear Horse,

        I want to thank you for all that you've done. Ever since I was a child (sometimes I still am!) I have been passionate about you. There have been so many times in life where I would have been lost if I didn't have you to turn to. Especially at the beginning of this year when I lost my beloved fur child you were one of the only things that held me together in that desperate time. Truly, if you weren't there I don't know what would have come of me. Thank you horse. 

        I would also like to thank you for keeping me out of trouble and growing me into someone I never knew I could become, strong, confident, and independent. Thinking about life without horses almost seems impossible to me, you've engraved your seal into my heart, forever. Thank you horse.  

        Thank you for all the times you've let me sit upon your sleek back, ride through the countryside teaching me to enjoy what I have around myself. Thank you for bucking me off and teaching me to always stand back up again. Thank you for taking off with me and telling me not to be afraid. Thank you for rearing and teaching me to hold on to my life. Thank you for all your soft kisses and hugs to keep my heart warm. Thank you for becoming lame (ehh, not really) so it would make me responsible and caring. Thank you for being expensive so I know not to spend all my money at once. Thank you for making horse people difficult so I can stay true to myself. And thank you for being the most beautiful, intelligent, and graceful animal to ever walk the planet. Thank you horse.

Falling into Autumn

Or we've possibly we've already fallen. The weather has been so sketchy lately that it's hard to tell what season it is!

Since the last post we have only ridden one other time but plan on many more due to clever time planning! Our last ride was amazing. We lunged in the mini arena and practiced her vertical flexion. She has retained so much training it is impecable, love that horse! After I got on she was smooth as butter and didn't try anything silly.

I also have other plans in the progress but will keep them on the down low before they are official. Don't want to jinx it!!
